Yesterday I had my first good South Indian cuisine dining experience at Saravanaa Bhavan- a Chennai, India based chain with locations in 11 different countries. I went to their Curry Hill location for a team lunch. Everything was vegetarian. We had pav bhaji, idli, and thali. I could not believe how many different little dishes of curry, raita, achar, soup, yogurt, and halwa the thali came with. Perfect for the indecisive type like me who like to sample, mix and match with lots of options. I still think a thali is WAY too much food for just one person unless you are in some kind of weight gain competition.
